Have you ever just kept on nodding to show that you "understand", when the product experts tell you everything the TV's in their stores can do? Have you ever felt lost and concluded, "All the TV's look the same?"

Well they don’t look the same and the rule of bigger is better doesn’t always apply. Today's electronics market is saturated with numerous qualities of television. LED, OLED, Ultra HD, Super Ultra HD, LCD, IPS LCD are the terms companies identify their televisions as. Why? Cause it makes the product sound extra techy and edgy. If you're not a tech freak then you have no idea what these terms even mean and are incapable of distinguishing and identifying what you need.

Thus, in conversation with Er.Prajun Dani, Product Specialist at LG I hope to simplify the world of television so that you are well prepared for the next time you go shopping for a new TV.

Dimension of a Television
Your Dads old theory that bigger the size of the television, better it is doesn’t apply. Televisions have something known as pixels, which wiki defines as the area of illumination on a display screen. The standard market televisions in Nepal are normally 720 P with a million pixels, where as your HD TV's have 2 million pixels. This may be okay for viewing HD content that the DTH operators of Nepal just started providing and generic content on the internet.

4K?
Going higher are televisions that have 8 million pixels which is called 4K television. They are 4 times the size of general full HD televisions. They have a dimension of 3840X 2160

You must ask why 4K? I don’t have access to 4K content in Nepal? True, but not true! The general DTH content is YES HD and it is going to take some time for the providers to upgrade to 4K.  But the internet is already saturated with 4K content; shows on Netflix, Youtube, Hulu and other media streams are available on 4K. One can get Ultra HD Blue Ray Discs for movies and even find 4K movies on the internet. The catch is, streaming 4K content on the internet requires a high speed or broadband internet connection.

The main advantage of going 4K today is being future proof. Your Dad might say the exact same thing my did," Son by the time we get 4K content, we will have standard 8K TV's and 4K TV's will be cheaper ." Which is also true, but that is not going to happen for a very long time. Investing in a 4K TV today, it can be the monitor for all your needs such as gaming, TV and multimedia as todays 4K TV's come equipped with smart operating systems.

What are LG's offerings in terms of Televisions for the Nepali Market?
LG is one of the leading international companies in terms of pioneering display technology. Its latest achievement is the wallpaper and roll able TV. Will they enter the Nepalese Market? Sadly No, both the wallpaper and roll able TV's are highly expensive and bringing them into Nepal would be extremely challenging.

Neither the less LG has a wide selection of TV's the masses can choose from such as OLED, Super UHD, UHD and Smart. They come equipped with WebOS ; LG's multitasking operating system and our latest range of UHD Televisions come equipped with ThinQ AI technology.

Can you simplify ThinQ?
In layman, ThinQ AI is a brand launched by LG which was R&D for many years; the ThinQ AI devices are equipped and capable of Deep Learning. As you keep using your television's features it shall start distinguishing your behavior and preferred content. Your voice assistant shall map your voice features and will be able to distinguish between the voices of your family member's. ThinQ AI devices are interconnected, meaning your TV is connected to your oven and your fridge to your washing machine. You can ask your AI to start the wash cycle while you're watching the soccer game. You can be cooking in the kitchen and ask your AI to start the Air Conditioning in the sitting room.  The possibilities are limitless for ThinQ integrations through ThinQ enabled devices.

Which one would you recommend to the masses?
The latest in our line-up is the UHD ThinQ AI which comes equipped with webOS and is a 4K TV. Its operating system is capable of offline control meaning even when you are not connected to the internet you can use the intuitive features such as voice control. Even if you want to use the remote, the magic remote is a universal controller for all your devices. It is capable of up scaling content; it does it through a 6 step up scaling process to create a near 4K experience, which comes handy in Nepal where most content is only HD,Active HDR and is equipped with the NET TV App.  It is equipped with a 4K IPS Panel capable of true color accuracy and the widest viewing angles. Other features such as , NET TV App

In the sound department it comes equipped with DTS Virtual :X with audio up scaling features for an immersive experience.
