KROWN LABORATORIES (K-LAB) is a stand-alone lab for doing tests for various non-communicable diseases at a cheaper rate or for free. The main aim of K-Lab is to make people aware of their general health condition so that they do not need to go to the physician every so often without knowing what’s wrong.

Its overreaching mission is to get everyone to live in a healthy society and as such has tied up with community and corporate houses to make people more aware about health issues. Keeping in mind the financial limitations of general people in Nepal, it offers reasonable discounts on the various tests. The lab itself is located at a convenient location that is easily accessible. The services it offers  are also of high quality because of its special equipment with cutting edge technology, backed by specialists with diverse expertise.

The main factor that separates it from other similar service providers is its empathy towards patient. With services provided at nominal and affordable costs, it is easier for people to get themselves tested for various ailments. While the tests are conducted for people of all ages, special provisions are available for senior citizens. And because of the cutting edge technology that it utilizes, it is able to deliver dynamic reports without any delays.

K-Lab operates within its four established pillars: Affordability, Hospitality and Accessibility which it dubs as its “AHA Experience”. With the astoundingly increasing rate of non-communicable diseases in Nepal, the lab is working towards decreasing the rate and communicating the dangers of such diseases. It is also trying to make K-Lab a community loved lab, where the community itself helps to maintain a K-Lab. Every month it brings to the community various offers, such as free testing, and 50% discounts, etc. It is focused more on providing quality service than on making profit.

With the proliferation of medical testing facilities throughout the country, patients sometimes end up taking unnecessary expensive tests. K-Lab aims to eliminate that by coming up with various offers, and by providing services in partnership with corporate entities. Its focus on quality and dedication to customer service is evident from the way it regularly communicates with its customers through various social media portals. It ensures quality through the use of most modern technology available in the market that are regularly calibrated. Calibration is expensive, so many hospitals do it only occasionally, but K-Lab calibrates its equipment frequently. The fully automated equipment used at K-Lab use software to generate paperless reports, which is also good for the environment.

The major tests given at K-Lab

• Thyroid Test

• Vitamin D Test

• Sugar Test

• Food Intolerance Test (to find which food is intolerable to an individual)

Many people in Nepal are not as aware about the need for regular testing as people in developed countries, and do not go to hospital on their own for such tests. The free tests provided by K-Lab have to a certain extent fulfilled this gap and promoted better health in the community. Throughout January 2019, K-Lab also conducted a free Vitamin-D test, which is one of the most expensive tests camps in certain location in Nepal.
