The battle between contact lenses and glasses

Not being able to see without any sort of vision correction tool is an everyday struggle for those who do not fit into the population of people having 20 20 vision. They have an option to choose from two alternatives which are either glasses or contact lenses. When evaluating contact lenses and glasses, it is very important to consider the convenience as well as demerits of each option. If you’re a person who's conscious about appearance and someone who wants to have a more natural vision despite of your visual impairment then it is needless to say that contact lenses would be the best option for you. However if you’re seeking for an easy way out for a proper vision, then glasses would seem more preferable.

Contact lenses provide a much wider field view and causes less vision distortions and obstructions as they conform to the curvature of your eyes. People who have tried contact lenses have also noticed positive changes as these lenses reshape our cornea while we sleep and temporarily corrects myopia. These lenses also come in a variety of options from which you can choose from. The thing that draws people towards these lenses is the fact that we can replace them to change up the color of our eyes any time we want. Contact lenses are very convenient as it allows us to move around freely without worrying that it will fall off which would be the otherwise case while wearing glasses. However, the greatest disappointment about using contact lenses is the fact that they cost more than eyeglasses. Although these lenses are very convenient to use, they require a lot of care. They must be cleaned daily, stored appropriately, replaced frequently and should be handled with care. Apart from the high cost and attention, these lenses also have a negative impact on our eyes. Severity of dry eye syndrome can be caused as contacts reduce the amount of oxygen recreating our eyes.

On the other hand, glasses compared to contact lenses aren’t as costly and expensive. Choosing glasses will need only a one time investment and very little delicate care. Glasses also have a lower risk of infection. Wearing glasses, you will avoid the need to touch your eyes which in turn avoids irritation and infection in the eyes. They also offer a higher UV protection for your eyes. If you worry about your glasses not matching with your style then that’s where you’re wrong. Glasses too, come in a variety of frames and colors that you can choose from. Regardless of these merits, glasses can also play a role in distorting your peripheral vision. In addition, they are also prone to fogging up. Your vision may be obstructed or blurred due to the precipitation collecting on your lenses during different weathers. Similarly people who use eyeglasses often have general discomfort due to their weight on our nose or pressure on our ears.
Examining the pros and cons of contact lenses and glasses, we can see that both offer great options for our vision however with some downfalls. So the decision to wear either of them is a matter of personal preference. At the end of the day both the lenses’ and glasses’ purpose is to provide a natural vision, so whichever out of the two is more favorable will eventually be the best option for you.
