Tips on Removing Make-Up

What is the proper way or method to removing make-up step by step?
I believe removing of make-up is a very important part of the beauty routine, as it leads to better skin which evidently leads to better application of make-up. A proper removal of make-up requires various steps. The first step is to wipe your face with cotton and some make-up removing solution such as Bioderma. This step helps in removing the outermost layer of the make up. Then it should be followed by a double cleansing process which includes both the oil and foam cleanser. The double cleansing helps in removing your make-up even more thoroughly and helps in removing all the excess make-up from your face.

How important is removing make-up completely? What are some problems which may arise if not done properly?
Our facial skin is said to be like a blank canvas. If you have a clear and flawless canvas then it is easier to apply make-up as you don’t have to work around the flaws. To achieve that one must remove the make-up completely and take good care of the skin. Likewise if the chemicals present in the make-up aren’t removed from the face completely they may lead to many skin problems. Some problems which may arise are acne, blackheads, and at the worst scenario even melasma or skin cancer. In addition it is also said that every time we do not remove our make-up it ages our skin by seven years. So removing makeup properly is extremely important and I suggest you to do so, if you want to keep your skin looking clean and healthy.

What are the basic products needed for make-up removal?
There are numerous products made for make-up removal, however they may vary for different skin types. The basic products needed are facial cleansers which may be oil based, water based or foam based products. One of my favourite products for make-up removal is the Bioderma micellar water which is FDA( Food and Drug Administration) approved as well as non-comedogenic which means it restrains your pores from clogging. It is suitable for every type of skin, and is a product I highly recommend for people of all ages.

Do you think the cost of these products determine their efficiency?
I believe the products’ worth aren’t determined by their price tag but rather the ingredients which are contained in them. Although the efficiency of a product isn’t based on its price, I suggest using branded products as they are known to have invested a lot of their time and money on research for better ingredients and have also been laboratory tested. Nonetheless it doesn’t mean that less costly products are worth any less than the costly products. For example one of our best selling product includes the toner from Secret Island, which compared to others isn’t as costly however it is considered to be one of the best. Hence I believe the efficiency of a product is rather based on its content rather than its cost.

What are some things to avoid altogether during the process of removing make-up?
Removing make-up might sound like an easy task to some, but even so there are proper techniques one should follow while doing it. One of the major things one should avoid is using alcohol based products as they are not good for your skin, and may lead to further damage. Likewise while removing make-up stretching of skin should be avoided as much as possible as our skin is very delicate, especially the areas around our eyes. Thus I believe being gentle towards your skin while removing make-up is the key.

Is it okay to re-apply make-up on your face without removing the previous applied layer?
Make-up is a build-able process so reapplication of make-up in some scenarios is tolerable. However if make-up is re-applied on a layer of existing make-up which has been exposed to dust or such other particles then it may lead to negative impacts as you’d be sealing the unwanted particles into your skin. In such cases one should wipe off her previous layer of make-up before applying a new one.  Likewise sleeping with make-up and reapplying it in the morning due also a big no, as that will further damage your skin.
What are the products one should use after the removal of make-up?
The products one should use after removal of make-up again differs depending on skin types; however generally after wiping your make-up off, you should double cleanse using both the oil and foam based cleanser. Then in order to calm or soothe your skin, toner can also be applied. Similarly in the context of Nepal, as many people have dehydrated or acne prone skin, targeted or specialized creams and serums should be used. Likewise the same thing applies for people with problems like pigmentation and scarring. Finally you can apply your under-eye cream and then seal it up with a sleeping face mask. However if you’re a lazy person, make sure to at least cleanse your face once giving priority to the eye area and apply a sleeping mask before going to bed.
What are some of your key advices for better and healthier skin?
My first and most important advice for better skin is drinking a lot of water. When you are hydrated throughout the day you release many toxins from your body which eventually contributes to cleaner skin. Similarly having a healthy diet also plays an important role as personally I have seen positive results in my skin after becoming vegan. Along with a healthy diet I have also noticed regular exercise helps in getting healthier skin. Finally another major key advice for keeping the skin healthy is application of sunscreen three times a day as it helps in protecting your skin from the harmful ultraviolet rays which are known to cause many severe skin problems. If you want your skin to be clean and healthy then these are the must tips for you.
