Considering the convenience and efficiency they provide, vehicles are a wonderful invention.

The longest and most anticipated festival in Nepal, Dashain is celebrated by worshipping the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga. On the ninth day of Dashain, Mahanawani, people with vehicles usually perform puja on them to honour them as creative manifestations of the divine, to express gratitude for their service, and to pray for their uninterrupted and safe use.

Sacrifices are also often given to all moving machinery to get blessings from Goddess Durga. These sacrifices are forms of prayers made for the protection of vehicles and their occupants throughout the year.

Dashain is also commemoration of the victory of good and truth over evil.  On the ninth day, Mahanavami, Goddess Durga vanquished demon Mahisasura, and since then Hindus have been celebrating everything that brings good into the homes in Dashain. As vehicles have made our lives so much easier and convenient by carrying materials and passengers, it is no surprise that pujas are performed on them during Dashain. In one way or another, we have to show our gratefulness to such a revolutionary invention.
