Soothing and Sophisticated
We all like to keep up with current styles, and enjoy things that are modern, and state-of-the-art. But how far would we go to accommodate these preferences when it comes to home décor?
Contemporary interior is bold and trendy, and yet - at the same time - they concede to simplicity, and clean lines. While dramatic details and shapes are normally steal the spotlight in many designs, open floor plans and natural light are some of the components of the contemporary interior design. Unlike classic design, contemporary interior design use rich textures paired with neutral colors, and curvy and geometric furniture to playfully accentuate its minimalist traits. Neutral color elements pumped up with bright and bold colors here and there, all defined in sleek clean lines, to create a warm, sophisticated and relaxing space.
The interior and the exterior spaces of houses in Nepal usually tell different stories. But the contemporary styled home of Mr. and Mrs. Sagun Joshi is beautiful inside and outside. The house appears as if it is made of glasses, and overlooks their lovely garden. The exquisiteness of the house tends to leave the visitors completely speechless.
The incense candles clustered at the corner, added a bit of style to match the not-so-flashy golden Gucci inspired wallpaper at the entrance. The refreshing scent and warm glow from the candles were truly the best way to welcome anyone. Smooth and textured wooden floors, indoor balcony structures, open floor plans and natural light beaming from the head to toe glass windows led us to their living room. The rich textures there teamed up with neutral shades to create a relaxing space. The warm ambience, and the shades of beige and cream all over the place made the environment calm and comfortable.. Oversized artworks and contemporary oversized and sleek furniture, created a stylish yet cozy space, making the room suitable for both fun and downtime. The mini bar underneath the stairs that displayed exquisite liquor and stemware was an efficient use of the space.
The all-white kitchen across the living room was comfortable, welcoming and uncluttered. It wasn’t too lavish and the white theme brought out the spaciousness of the room that serves both functional and social purposes. In addition to the dining area, the room also has a breakfast table counter, which makes the environment more social for guests, family members, and the cook.
A long glass-fenced, light beige wooden stairs graciously led to the upper next floor which was simply gorgeous. The bright geometrically-inspired chandelier accentuated the indoor balcony structure of the house. What awaited as we went up the stairs was a cozy space between their children’s rooms for TV time. The sofas with pink and chevron printed cushions were cozy and comfortable. Quirky and geometrically shaped tables gave a modern touch to the décor of that space. The bedrooms upstairs were clean and perfectly illuminated. Their son’s bedroom was more subtle and gave a warm vibe, while their daughter’s room was clad in white and sea blue. They both had a study space and a lounging space other than their own beds. Apart from these, other noteworthy parts were walk-in closets, attached bathrooms (both of which were spacious) and the hidden storage spaces. These rooms were incredibly spacious yet clutter free, and had amazing storage spaces in imaginative places - like under the bed, behind the walls, and the mirrors. The bed in their son’s room had an inbuilt music player and what seemed like side tables were actually speakers! Furthermore, the extra pillar walls were turned into small racks. The rooms not only had clean tables but also linen baskets that acted ascompartments to efficiently manage the clutter.
The small room on the second floor besides their daughter’s room was surrounded by glasses, and was used for sunbathing and enjoying foosball. These glassed windows enabled us to view the backside of the house, and the pool area. The pool area in the backyard seemed like a great place to relax and spend some family time. The swimming pool covered most of the backyard space, which also had a pool-side seating area. At the end of the pool were two small rooms - a mini Jacuzzi and a sauna.
The next floor led to laundry room and the terrace. As the laundry room covered only a small yet well-managed area. This floor was mostly used as the terrace.
It is evident that the design, furniture, lighting, flooring, fencing and almost everything else in the house were selected and managed with much thought and precision. But this beautiful house is more than luxury and class, everything in it resonates with peace and relaxation to its core. This beautiful house with breathtaking features looks and feels simply like what most of us call: a dream house.
