Air coolers to battle the summer heat

Its summer and the heat is on rise. Buying an air conditioner is quite expensive for every room in the house.  Ceiling fan on the other hand may not circulate sufficient air during summers. Air cooler helps to keep your home or workplace cool and comfortable. It is also a better option as it gives natural and fresh. In Nepal, air cooler is very effective and less expensive to purchase.

How Air cooler works?

 The fresh air from outside is taken in, cooled, and pushed in the room. Fresh air is taken from outside and passed through an evaporative pad containing water. The hot dry air cools down when it comes in contact with water on the evaporative pad. Although there is no option to control the temperature in air coolers, but it always supplies fresh air. If we compare electricity consumption, air coolers consume 80-90% less electricity as compared to air conditioners.

How to install air coolers in home?

The most common place where people install desert air coolers is on one of the windows in a room. But when there is no window or a very small window in a room, in that case the only option is setting up an air cooler on the terrace. You can also set up a bigger air cooler on the terrace with a pipe or vent system to deliver air in all rooms. This setup helps to reduce the sound in a room generated by air coolers.

Personal Cooler:

Personal coolers are the perfect answer for indoor uniform cooling. They are portable air cooler easily adjustable in any place. There is an ice chamber that can be filled with ice cubes to speed the cooling. There are completely collapsible louvers to prevent dust/ insects entering the air cooler. The capacity of personal cooler is 34 liters. It is easily available at market.

Window cooler:

Window air cooler is a smart choice for those who wish to enjoy the luxury of cool environment in hot summers without increment of power bills. The cooler capacity is high which allows it to perform efficiently for long hours without the need to refill. The capacity of this model is 40 liters and there is a water level indicator that tells you when a refill is required. The air throw distance is 30 feet, which ensures that cool air reaches to all the side and corners of the room making the surrounding cool and invigorating. It is compatible with inverters and so if you have electricity problems, there is nothing to worry about.

Desert Cooler:

 Desert coolers are fitted on a window and suck air from outside. They work through the evaporation of water provided in the cooler. The capacity of this model is 90 liters. They are especially used at living room and parties’ hall. They are effective in the most searing summer temperatures but consume the lowest energy.  They have remote system and incredibly low noise that leaves you undisturbed.
