Sam’s One Tree Café -- the name itself stemming from the owner Shyam Kakshyapati, and the tree that he first planted back when he started Nanglo restaurant at the very same place in 1976 – is a restaurant in Durbarmarg, Kathmandu. The whole feel of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable, and at the same time ample and spacious. From the moment you enter the place, you feel tranquil, relaxed and your mood is instantly lifted after a tiring day at work or simply the boredom of lazing around in your house. The restaurant welcomes you with an array of artifacts and clothing, which supports the local community, and makes you feel like you’ve entered a different world, away from the busy streets of Durbarmarg.

The menu consists of most of the food items that we have grown to love at Nanglo, such as sizzler, momo, Nepali thali set, and pizza. It is in the process of revamping its menu, so keep your eyes open for that. Its Chicken Sizzler and Chinese Style Fried Chicken are phenomenal. What many of you may not know is that sizzler was first brought and introduced in Nepal by Nanglo. Sam’s One Tree Cafe also managed to retain the flavor, taste and the whole experience of the sizzler, the trademark steam, crackle, fizzle and sizzle that accompanies the food as it is brought in for the customer. The chicken sizzler consists of a chicken dish on a bed of noodles, and steamed vegetables which will leave you feeling satisfied in every way.
