I HEARD THIS saying a long time back, "Your education doesn’t always have to be your profession." Even though he graduated in French literature, his muse is not a pen but a pair of scissors with which he has been bringing life and revolution to people's hair. With more than 500 unisex hair salons across India and multiple academies and salons in Nepal, Mr. Jawed has become the man to beat and to learn from in terms of hair style, fashion and care. He shares with all, his understanding of hair style, fashion and gives you the readers various tips on better hair care.

Have you seen hair style and fashion change in the 20 years you have been visiting Nepal?

In my understanding the international wave of fashion hit Nepal quicker than India. The fashion evolved only in the last 10 years. "Nepal has color; the Nepalese people are open to experimenting with their hair. Nepal is definitely more of a fashion statement than India."

In the last 10 years hair fashion has seen allot of change, back then it used to be just a good cut. But now it has become a package with good cuts, good color and
chemical. "People are taking color as a hair lipstick."

As an education partner with Streax, how do you plan to educate the Nepalese audience?

I think for any profession the change is education. When you bring education, it becomes a science which creates a system helping create a brand. I and my team plan to empower the hair industry of Nepal with knowledge in terms of techniques, hair dressing skilling, proper use of chemicals and hair science. We plan to educate the audience through master classes, seminars and various shows not just in Kathmandu but in other parts of Nepal. I want them to become hair doctors for whom they must know the science behind taking care of their hair and fixing damaged hair.

Where do you see the style of hair going?

Shorter and Colorful! Today the word is not country it’s a globe, people are now aware of the style and trends from around the world. Life has become so busy; people don’t have the time to look after long hair anymore.

How can people take better care of their hair?

Hair should be clean they should be shampooed every day, people are generally scared as they view shampoo has a mixture of chemicals. But toothpaste is a chemical but you brush your teeth every day and even soap is a mixture of chemicals. If you have cleaner hair, they will grow much better, fall average is reduced and they look much healthier.

Secondly, when you are going to the hair dresser "Trust Him/Her" as they aren’t just your hair dresser they are your hair doctor. Become experimental why always stick with the traditional, long hair?. You only have one life, break out of your comfort zone. Try on new things not just in hair style and fashion but in general.
