6 Resolutions For A Healthy You
Every millennial has a resolution story, and the majority of them are centered around health goals they never could implement. Being generation Z, I love making resolutions regardless of whether or not I achieve them. Writing them down on a piece of paper and working to make them come true has always given me a sense of empowerment, along with a sense of change that I look forward to bring in myself, which I am pretty sure that most of us also wish for. Whether it is trying to lose that extra bit of weight, removing ones bad habits or working to take on new healthy habits, it is the time one focuses on making commitments that one can plan to fulfill in the long run.
Take care of your mental health
Everyone knows that it’s very important to take care of one’s body, to walk more, and exercise regularly -- just so that we can look good on the outside. But what many neglect is our mental health. It is imperative to remember that your life is just as good as your mindset and when you start filling it with positive things then it can reflect in your actions. The first step toward trying to achieve what you want is keeping a mindset that grows and radiates positivity and the rest will just follow.
Eat your veggies
You are what you eat and aspire to stay healthy this year by replacing your meat-based diet with more of a plant-based diet. Green is the way to go! However, this doesn’t mean that you have to go completely vegetarian. Try filling your bowl of food with more fruits and vegetables. It might be difficult to adjust at first but with time, you will see changes not just in your metabolism but also your skin, stamina, endurance and ability.
Limit your screen time
Some pills are bitter to swallow and those are normally truths. Our phones have grown from our accessories to well at times a physical attachment. You can’t live with them, but you definitely can’t live without them. The time you could have spent being productive and doing something that benefits you is spent browsing, scrolling, and tapping one’s mobile devices.
When you do not use your phone and get involved in something else -- whether it is going to the gym, reading a book, spending precious time with one’s friends and family, taking up a new hobby or just sitting under the stars -- you are gaining experiences, memories that you’ll cherish in your mind and not on your phone.
Get physically active
Whether it is going on a short walk every morning, or hitting the gym three days a week, you must spare some time for physical activities especially with most of us living such a monotonous work life sitting in our chairs all day. If your new year resolution is to lose some weight or to get in good shape, then it is about time you start challenging your mind for better physical health.
Renew your motivation
We all suffer from bad days when we don’t have enough energy to get out of bed or motivate ourselves to do what we want to. Remember that we are all allowed bad days, but we should not let them overshadow our self-esteem and what we are capable of. If you feel like you lack energy to do anything, talk to people who support you, or watch documentaries that inspire you so that you can get up and fulfill all the resolutions you have promised yourself.
Spend time alone
Being alone with yourself sometimes is the most rewarding thing to experience. Take yourself out on dates, head to your favorite place alone watch your favorite movie alone. And while it may be hard to adjust, you will soon realize how productive you can be once you know yourself better.
