You don’t have to spend hours and hours at the gym. You can eat carbs. You can achieve your desired physical goal. You don’t have to eat only salads and boiled foods. It’s okay to eat what you crave in moderation. You can always get back on track. There a

The number of people in the gym is going up day by day. Every other topic is around food, healthy food to be exact. The definition and understanding of fitness vary for different people. For some, it might be to become skinny enough, some people believe in intuitive eating with enough fat in the body and for some, it is to have bulky muscles. We hear about different fitness journeys of different people. Low calories-high volume food, cheat days, intuitive eating, eating disorders, and many more. Does staying in shape means starving yourself? Do you have to work out and lift heavy weights to stay fit? Is gym only the option to stay motivated towards the maintenance of your body?

People are concerned about their body curve rather than their smile curve. Staying fit is excellent but at what cost? Body positivity and mental health matter. However, all the perfect pictures on social media can easily impact people. Especially the beginners who have no idea about staying fit and are hitting the gym 7 days a week with the minimum amount of plain boiled foods. Moderation is the key. Going to the gym is healthy for your health, but it is not the only way to stay fit. Paying money might get you motivated but working out at home is convenient in every way possible. There are so many ways you can get your physical movement for fitness.

  1. Yoga: “Yoga” is derived from Yuj, which means “to join”. It helps in the union of individual consciousness with universal consciousness. Everything in life feels great until you are in peace of mind. Yoga strives for mental and physical fitness. The meditation and stretching of your body are enough. There are so many yoga videos on YouTube and you can simply access that. There are many benefits of yoga: Increase in flexibility and muscle strength, improvement in respiration, protection from injury, increase in circulation and blood flow, calm the nervous system and the list goes on. Even though it is slow-paced, it works well for a healthy body.
  2. Walking: Walking is one of the most underrated forms of exercise. If you are trying to lose weight or even just trying to get in some movements, walking makes it easier to achieve your goal. Using a staircase instead of elevators, parking your vehicle a little bit far, going for half an hour of walk, you should try that. Many people get vigorously hungry after they join the gym unlike walking. It will help you maintain weight or even lose weight.
  3. Swimming: Do you want to strengthen muscles? Go swimming. Do you want a healthy heart and lungs? Go swimming. Do you want to make friends and have fun? Go swimming. It is a sport that everyone needs to learn. It is one of the best forms of cardio that keeps your cardiovascular system healthy and builds up endurance. The relaxation that you get from being in the water is another level of peace.
  4. Dancing: There must be many people who love losing themselves in the flow of music. Shutting off the world, putting on a favorite song, volumes up, and just dancing. Until you dance your heart out and until your heart calms down with the pondering heartbeat and you feel relaxed to take all the bottled up emotion out. Dancing is one of the fun workouts that you can be consistent with. It engages your entire body as well as your mind. All the steps in choreography that are to be remembered to keep your brain active. Constant physical movement helps in your heart, circulation, balance, muscles, and joints.
  5. Sports: All kinds of sports help in keeping you healthy and fit. Whether it be volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, long tennis, badminton, long jump, high jump, cricket, and many more, you will get good physical movement. To some, sports is more like a solace. The best part is that you actually can enjoy it and continue forever. As you have noticed, all the players are quite healthy as they have to follow a balanced diet to have good energy for the game.

Consistency is the key to staying healthy. Along with a balanced diet, getting physical movement in is the best possible way to keep all the illness away. Embracing the form of exercise that you can continue forever and does not feel like a task to do, might be the first step towards fitness. Rather than focusing on the shape of the body, focusing on endurance, the way you feel, cardiovascular health, strong muscles, and a healthy mind would be helpful to feel Zen and not be overly obsessed with fitness. Hence, hitting the gym is not the only option. “Slow and steady wins the race” and the same goes for a healthy body.
