  1. Is it true that makeup causes acne? If yes, how?
  • Yes, it is true. Those who wear makeup frequently or let’s say on a daily basis, are prone to get acne and skin problems. The right answer to why it happens might be complicated. Not everyone gets acne with the use of makeup but those who do get acne, have to be very careful with the kind of products they are using, their diet, skincare routine and overall taking care of themselves. It may be because of the skin type or maybe the product does not suit their skin.

  1. How can we prevent acne when wearing makeup?
  • To prevent acne when wearing makeup, we should use the proper quality foundations/makeup products. Find yourself such makeup products that do not contain oil or wax. The pure minerals used in makeup helps to get a better result without worsening our skin.
  1. Other than causing acne, what are the negative effects of makeup?
  • Yes, it does affect your skin. Many people experience their skin getting bad from the use of makeup. And it is true. Makeup clogs your skin pores, it causes blackheads, whiteheads, breakouts, and worse inflammations.
  1. What is the appropriate age to start wearing makeup?
  • Okay, if you ask me, then, I would say. Eighteen would be the right age. But most makeup artists believe that you can start using from the age of 12 or 15. From my personal experience, I feel the skin is not ready for makeup at an early age, so it is better if you wait until 18.
  1. What kind of makeup products cause acne?
  • If we are to consider the kind of foundations and concealers we are using, then it might contain silicon which makes our skin feel silky and smooth but in the long run, it makes our skin dry and clogs the skin pores which causes acne.

  1. Being a beautician, how do you choose products for doing makeup on other people’s faces? Given that, everyone has different kinds of skin.
  • This is one of the things that we have to be very careful about. As a beautician, coming across different kinds of skin types and finding the perfect makeup products can be a work of art. However, with time and experience, as a beautician, we get the hang of it.
  1.  How to know if the acne is caused by makeup or because of something else?
  • Everyone has to understand that acne is not only caused by makeup. If one uses good quality makeup products and the kind that is suitable for the skin, and still getting acne, then, the reason is something else like hormonal change, certain medication, diet, stress, chocolate, and junk foods. You might want to prioritize the skincare routine and remove the makeup properly. Another reason for acne can be the friction or pressure on the skin like telephones, cell phones, helmets, tight collars, and backpacks.

  1. What can be skincare ideas for those who use makeup on a daily basis?
  • If you use makeup daily, then you have to take care of your skin well. There is no other way but to clean your face and use daily care products before going to bed. You must not skimp on cleaning your makeup applicators and brushes regularly and use a cleaner that contains Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid exfoliates your skin and you make sure to choose the non comedogenic labeled products along with an oil-free moisturizer.
  1. Is there any treatment that works for the acne caused by makeup?
  • As a beautician, I would suggest you have a facial treatment twice a month. The other simple skincare routine, right makeup products, and that kind of sort have to be embraced. Prioritizing good food and hydration always help you get clear skin, so say, that could be a great treatment for your skin as well as your body. And yes, if the skin is getting worse then, visit a dermatologist.
