Whether it is rough hair, split ends or oily hair, here are some tips and tricks to taking care of your damaged hair and regaining those luscious, thick locks you’ve always desired. The best part about it is that you don’t need to visit a fancy beauty parlor and spend lots of money. Just follow these few simple steps to hair care at your own home, in your own leisure time.
One basic home remedy is oil massage your hair once a week. And wash your hair after 2 to 3 hours. However, if you leave the oil on your head for a long time, such as overnight, the pores on your head will close. People with extremely dry hair should use castor oil after diluting it with a little bit of water. You can also make your own homemade hair packs with materials lying around in your house. It can be used for rejuvenating your hair, masking grey hair strands, darkening your hair color, so on and so forth. One of the most common hair packs consists of eggs, yogurt, methi and blended onions.
One of the best tips when shampooing is to shampoo only once. It is because when you wash your hair with shampoo the first time it will cleanse all the dirt from your hair, which is the ultimate goal. However, the second wash will wash out the nutrients from your scalp, leaving your hair dry and undernourished. It is also recommended that you change your shampoo brand from time to time. When one bottle of shampoo is finished, you can use shampoo of another brand. After having washed your hair, you should also apply hair serums to provide your hair with extra nourishment to make your hair frizz free and to add shine.
One most common hair myth is that if you take a lock of your hair, twist it and cut out the strands which stand out, the split ends will get cut off. However, this is not true. Rather, the twisting makes matters worse as it leads to breaking of weak strands. If you want to get rid of your split ends, you should just trim your hair little by little, about an inch or so at a time.
When taking showers, make sure you use either lukewarm or cold water. Hot water will fade off the color of your hair and also result in hair loss as the pores on your scalp open up. Keep in mind that it is best to use a pull comb but do not comb your hair when it is still wet as it will still be weak and break off or fall off easily. Remember to protect your hair from the sun when you’re outside, and to wrap a shawl when on a two wheeler to shield it from the wind. When styling your hair, use sponges instead of irons and always remember to apply hair protectors before styling with a hot iron.
While it usually may seem like a lot of work, you can keep the maintenance at the minimal with these tips and tricks. Follow these hair hacks and you (and you luscious hair) can go a long way.
