The Art of Taking Resolutions
At the end of this month, you will wake up to the eve of the New Year. Yes, another glorious year has made it to your doorsteps, and if you look around your notes or journal you will still find the beautifully artsy page that you created tao list the 2019 resolutions.
A trend that has become a staple at the end of each year is the act of creating resolutions. We all know someone who at the beginning seemed committed to turning his/her life around, but soon there after they falter. Well, let’s say life got the better of them. Compiled below are a few tips that would ease your endeavors for the New Year:
One step at a time
A common mistake thatwe all commit is put pressure on ourselves by making way too many resolutions. Understand that change is a gradual process that requires time and dedication. When you put your foot in way too many places, your ambiguity never truly help you achieve your goals. Healthy behavioral patterns can only be established when a habit is turned into a lifestyle.
Letting go
Our past can be daunting and, in many ways, hinder our ambitions and growth when we can’t let go of them. Whether it is a mistake that didn’t help you achieve your goals or something that changed you, try and re-evaluate what went wrong and change your approach on how you take forward your resolutions this year. Focusing on what is next and trying to stop living in your past mistakes will help you see a clearer picture of what lies ahead of you.
Be patient
All of us can get impatient and be overwhelmed when we try to reach our goal faster, but don’t see the results. At times like these we tend to give up easily. This is the main reason why we fail to keep up with our resolutions or achieve them. You need to understand that, every good thing take times to come to fruition and when you don’t see what you want to, it is only because, it is slowly paving its way. All you need to do is keep trying and believe in what you can do.
Surround yourself with positive people
“You are the average of the five people you spend your time with,” so on days when feel like all your hard work is going to waste, be around people who are there to motivate you and support your grind and direct you to better life choices.
Remember why you started
We all have days when sometimes we want to conquer the world and some days, when we simply just don’t want to get out of bed for the next 3 days. But we are only human and we are all allowed a pass sometimes but do make sure that your bad days don’t turn into months or years and before you know it, you might leave your goals far behind. On bad days be sure to renew your motivation and always remind yourself why you started in the first place.
