Bhetayo app is a very thoughtful concept of bringing people closer as well as downscaling the household workload. The app tends to help both the service provider and the user for better.

  1. Could you please walk us through the concept of the “Bhetayo App”?
  • I would say, the app is a response to what is needed right now. Bhetayo is a platform that acts as a bridge to connect Professional service providers and their customers. So, we have tried to take urban life into account, where not many have contact with electricians, plumbers, cleaners, etc. To find them is a very tedious job, hence, we have attempted to mitigate the distance and bring servers closer to the customers.

  1. What is the inspiration behind starting this app?
  • Being a citizen of a country, or say as a youth, I have faced various problems. Taking my scenario, at home, if something goes wrong with my bathroom or kitchen or even if I have to call a cleaner, I have no means to get in contact with them. In that case, I need a quick solution, rather than going and starting searching for them. Given that, technology has come a long way and everything is one screen touch away, I wanted the same with getting the best of the service providers. I think the same is the case for other people as well. Hence, that need inspired us to start the app.

  1. Even though the youths are more likely to be familiar with using apps, the same might not be the case for elders. In such a case, how have you planned to make it conveniently accessible to them as well?
  • In that case, as we have noticed that the elder generation is using Facebook these days. We are very active on social media platforms and trying to make a connection with them. We are also trying to make the app user-friendly so that everyone can easily use the app. We also regard all the youths that if they can, teach their parents and grandparents to use this app.

  1. Within the time frame of two and half months, what is the situation in the customers’ increment?
  • Alright, if we are to see the data, people are getting more inclined to the app as well as in social media. We have noticed that youths are more likely to use apps whereas older people are getting connected through social media platforms. We do have more than 2000 apps downloaded whilst we have more than 100 service providers.

  1. The graph might not always spike up. What is the drive to continue getting yourself invested in this?
  • Our drive is that we want to make the Bhetayo app a convenient way of living rather than an option. Everybody is busy in their life, especially in the urban area, people do not have time to do the house chores. Hence, we want to be the helping hand for them, we want to make their work easier and to lessen their hassle as much as we can. If only we could downscale a housewife’s household problems, or if we could help anyone to diminish their workload at home, they will be able to spend more time with family and focus on professional life.

  1. Could you please suggest how to use the app or from where they can get it downloaded?

You can easily get it downloaded from the play store or app store. We do have two apps, one for the provider and the other one for the user. In the case of the user, whether it be android or IOS, you can download from the play store or App Store as I have already mentioned. You will have to register through a simple process of filling in names, addresses, contact numbers, etc. Or you can get signed in through google. There, you find various options to click on the probable services you will be needing and even the times and dates can be scheduled as per your preference. After all that is done, you will be getting a call from a call center.   We also happen to have a Bhetayo assistant in case you cannot say what is wrong with your, say, bathroom or walls. If you click on the Bhetayo assistant, it will get driven to the call center to directly call you where you can explain the problem.  So, that way, we can help you even if you do not know the problem and what you need.

7.  Do you have any plans for the future concerning the Bhetayo app?

- Yes we do! As we want to make the app accessible to as many people as possible. We are trying to increase the font size for elderly people and the provision of choosing different languages. That way, we have focused on elderly people and to increase our customers.

8.  Would you mind sharing your experience till now that you have been interacting with different service providers and also within the team?

- Oh, it is a very beautiful experience. I got to know many people and got an opportunity to understand how difficult their work is. I have realized that no work is small or big, everyone has their own story of struggles. Given that, the professions in Nepal are always categorized, I want people to change such beliefs. A broken tile or a pipe gives the same headache and difficulties as ill-health does. Every profession is different yet important. I got to meet versatile people and sat down with people that gave me a different insight into life.
