Earn, Learn or Quit
We want to become wise. We want to afford a good lifestyle. We want to detach from negativity. This summons up to “Earn, learn or quit”.
“At every job, you should either learn or earn. Either is fine. Both are best. But if it’s neither, quit.” Most of the young people or, say, young-minded people, strive for learning along with some earning. In today’s world, where affording to maintain a good lifestyle, takes some grinding. The importance of “learning” just cannot be stressed enough. The good thing is that youngsters are doing internships, part-time jobs, and some of them are full-time employees. However, there might be cases where the place of work is adding nothing into their basket of knowledge and that is where the problem lies. This brings us to question marks. What to do when you find yourself in that situation? Is quitting better?
Are you learning through your job? Are you earning well? If you get both, that’s great! One of them is fine. However, if you are neither earning or learning, you better leave and move on to find a better job. You might have heard successful people saying how their experiences shaped them into the person they are today and how they have learned along with the time. hence they are successful. They got to earn, and if not, they at least learned from their experience. The workplace that no longer helps you grow, is not made for you. ‘Job’, one must have a dream of getting one. Getting the skills sharpened, building networks, and taking it further to turn into life success. However, not everyone gets to do that, at least in one shot. Working in a team, interacting with people with different backgrounds can teach you a lot. If the working environment is toxic, and by toxic, I mean, negativity or barren atmosphere, you can’t climb up the ladder. Not to say that you have to find a job that gives you enough money for your entire life or you will learn enough to become the superior of an entire human being in one day or few months, but the process has to have that commitment to it, to make you believe that you will get there, you are on the way.
Sometimes, it is okay to give up. Not in life, but the things/people in life. when things do not get better and you don’t feel respected, you are not valued, it is okay to pack your stuff and leave. Acknowledge and become reflective on the work that you do; you might find the right answer within yourself. Every day is a day to explore, find your worth and do what you love. If your goal is to earn and learn, you will. Just put your heart in the place.
