We often overlook the little details when organizing spaces. Labels are the most important detail when it comes to staying organized and clutter free. Having every container, box, basket, bin etc. labeled can make your life less stressful.

Cans, boxes, baskets, jars, drawers etc. are good options to a clutter-free home. When organizing and storing your stuffs in these, it’s a smart idea to label the containers.  Shoes, clothes, books, spices, pickles, and a lot of other stuff are the things you should label but there are a lot more things and ways you didn’t imagine of. Break the items into categories that encourage you to put things away instead of stacking them into a pile to deal with later.

Why?

The main reason to do this is that things don’t get lost.  In hurry, we often toss things into boxes and tell ourselves that we will be able to remember in which box we placed the items.  We all know that never happens.

A label immediately identifies what the containers contain, saving time and fuss of looking through files, and boxes. We will no longer find ourselves going through each and every box and scatter everything on the floor in hurry until we find what we were looking for and then clean the mess again later.  Clutter is stressful and time consuming.  Labeling will help to avoid adding up more clutter.

What and how?

Here are few cool ideas we can try to label the containers.

Spices

You can simply print out or write down the names and stick them on the box or jar of spices, pickles or other kitchen related items.  Furthermore, if you have a lot of kitchen wares and dishes, it’s a cool idea to take pictures of them and paste it outside their boxes so you can recognize it without making efforts to take everything out and choose.

Clothes

Whether you store them in plastic bags or baskets or wherever every season, categorize and label them so you don’t have to deal with remembering what each bags contain next season.

Wires

We often pull out a different wire instead of the other. We may want to remove the speakers’ wire but end up pulling out the Wi-Fi device.  Labeling the wires running under the office table or music system makes work easier and hassle free.  This might seem too much work, but trust me; you will have one less problem for yourself.

Stationary & Toys

Children are the most trouble maker when they’re on their own drawing and coloring.  They scatter color pens, pencils, erasers etc. after they are done with their creative work.  It is an extra load of work to put it back in their places.  Labeling the holders or boxes the children can help or if they big enough they can put the items back in their designated containers.

You can also try the photo method for shoes by pasting photos on the respective shoe box.  Label the storage material like cans, drawers, bags, jars, boxes and other things that store your things like accessories, sewing materials, makeup etc. The key idea is to further categorize and label them in the storage materials.
