Weekends are all about spending time with your loved ones, sharing delicious food and eating a late morning breakfast; brunch. The weekends really do feel magical with no pressure of work or alarm clocks waking you up early in the morning.

Weekend brunches have always held a special place in my heart and a must have in my routine because they are a recollection of days where I get to eat satisfying food with my friends and family, share laughter and make memories.
This week, I decided to do brunch at Hyatt Regency Kathmandu and while it would be a sin to compare it with the family brunches at home, it would by far have to be one of my best brunch experiences. As I entered, I was seriously not prepared for what I saw next, an exceptionally large and beautiful hall, surrounded by food in every corner; what a sight for sore eyes. For a second, I imagined myself to be a queen in a royal palace about to eat her royal food. I was overwhelmed with all the varieties of food in front of me. They served an ample of cuisines from Indian, Newari, Continental for both their vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests to a separate desert isle where I could see most of the guests swarming around. I think, it took me around a half an hour to decide what I wanted to eat.

As much as I wanted to dive into their Indian Platter, I didn’t let my hungry judgement cloud me into eating something heavy that early in the morning and started off with a light bread, cheese and milkshake which was healthy and light, perfect meal to start my day.

Since it was an all you can eat buffet from 12:30 to 4, every Saturday and Sunday and with such a great bargain at NPR 2,699 per person, I was taking the time to admire the price and the things I get to savor while I am at it. I can’t remember the last time I felt this relaxed, appreciating the fascinating view, enjoying my company and the ambience of the place and how homely it felt.

As I explored around, I also discovered that besides the hall, the garden also served food that you can enjoy by the pool and had live barbecues, Asian cuisine, snacks like mo:mo and fries and an ice-cream stall to beat the summer heat. I went crazy and tried everything I wanted. It was a heavenly feeling, eating delicious food by the pool, getting tanned and being with your loved ones. Not to forget, their biryani with chicken curry was orgasmically delicious and I kept adding more and more to my plate. The desert isle was masterfully executed and well I did go a bit overboard and ate too much, which I do not regret at all, because everything tasted delicious and comforting, I still can’t decide which is my favorite. The only thing I regret is not getting to swim in the relaxing pool because I forgot my swimsuit.

Other than that, a weekend brunch at Hyatt was all the relaxation I needed for a perfect weekend, and with all the food I tasted, my heart was full but my heart definitely wasn’t. I would undoubtedly visit this place over and over again not only because of the food and the ambience but also for the kid’s playground where I get to paint my face and play around. Well, that was a bad joke but truly, their great and inviting service and warm welcome definitely creates an exemplary of an exceptional place to spend time with your family and friends.
