Food is fun and yummy. But have you ever wondered if it is healthy? We don't read the labels before we eat or buy. Especially when it comes to potato chips, we go all in. Today, let's see how potato chips affect our bodies.

We all love some crunch, a little bowl of chips (family pack maybe), and chill. Netflix and boredom, all you need are chips. If chips are there in your daily diet, you might want to be careful as it does no good to your body. Why shouldn't you have potato chips?

  1. They are high in sodium:

Even though chips are full of flavours and you want to keep eating them, they are high in sodium (salt). Too much sodium causes health problems like high blood pressure and heart disease. Not saying that you can never enjoy it, but you have to be very careful and consider moderation.

  1. They are high in fat:

They are deep-fried and are high in fat. High fats are the major contributor to weight gain, and you wouldn't want that. High cholesterol levels, high fat, and high sodium aren't good for a healthy diet and body.

  1. Fewer nutrients:

When the potatoes are deep-fried, they are more likely to lose nutrients. To get the light brown texture, they are highly heated. It affects their nutrient content. On top of that, potatoes go through washing, blanching, and frying. This process will again wash away the nutrient level of potatoes.

  1. Harmful byproducts:

Potatoes go through various processes to achieve the needed texture. However, the process more likely creates byproducts that are negative to your health. The byproduct named, Acrylamide tends to form in starchy foods when cooked at high temperatures. The byproduct is harmful to our body causing various diseases.

Before you go to supermarkets and chips catch your eyes, make sure that you are reading the labels. We can find baked, low-fat, low-sodium, veggie crisps, etc. These chips are a better option. However, daily consumption is still not good for health.
