How often do you drink cola? If you do, you must know about the health risk. Today, we will talk about a few health problems that these drinks can cost you.

Do you think summer is incomplete without cola? Do you drink for refreshment or out of habit? Except for your urge to dive into the pool, drinking cola must have always remained at the top. If you are telling me, “Moderation is the key”, you might as well consider your definition of moderation. How long has been your “Just for today” stretching out?

Health risk of soft drinks:

  • Weight gain:

One can of the drink costs you around 140 calories. Hence, the long-term result of drinking cola results in weight gain. On top of that, people consume soft drinks with their daily calories.

  • Breakouts:

Cola is higher in sugar levels. If you notice your skin breaking out, you must rethink consuming these drinks daily.

  • Diabetes:

Is soft drink your comfort food, and do you have it frequently? There is a high chance of insulin resistance. The higher amount of fructose corn syrup, refined salts, and caffeine found in soda contributes to high blood pressure, which results in diabetes.

  • Tooth decay:

The acid in cola can damage the tooth enamel around the bacterial colony, allowing the bacteria to move into the eroded areas, eventually leading to cavities and possible tooth decay. It only takes about 20 seconds for bacteria to produce acid, but the effects can last for 30 minutes.

  • Sleeping problems:

The caffeine in the drink does affect your sleeping habits. Caffeine blocks the sleep-inducing chemicals in the brain and increases adrenaline function. The disturbance in sleep only makes your day unproductive.

Not to say that you can’t ever have them. However, if you crave such soft drinks, you can always choose alternatives like sparkling water, Kombucha, freshly squeezed lemonade, coconut water, and many more. When there is a will, there is a way!!
