Just a single bite of the food at Mango Chilli Thai Cafe will take both your mind and your heart to the nooks and corners of Thailand.

If you are in the mood for some genuine Thai food, then Mango Chili, located on the third floor of Labim Mall in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, is definitely the place to go. The ambiance of the place is just remarkable and you will have a great time there alone or with a company.

The ambiance of the place can only be rivaled and even topped by the food served there. The spices and flavors are blended to perfection, and the aesthetic of the dish is remarkable.

We started with the Thai Iced Tea to beat the summer heat, and it turned out to be the perfect choice for this weather. It is sweet and creamy, with a bit of a bitter and herby aftertaste which will leave your mouth craving for more. The sweetness and the creaminess of the drink from condensed milk is cut through by the slight bitterness and freshness from the herbs, and it is definitely a must try here.

We then tried some of the dishes they themselves recommended. The Shrimp Cakes with ‘Sweet and Spicy Sauce’ are like little, crispy balls of joy. The shrimps have been aerated and then deep fried, and how can anything deep fried ever disappoint? The shrimps were seasoned perfectly and the sweet and sour sauce accompanying it perfectly complemented the shrimp balls.

Another dish we tried was Tom Kha, a Thai soup, with bits of chicken and mushroom. The main flavors in the soup are from galangal (a distant cousin of the ginger family), coconut and lemon grass. All of the ingredients are perfectly balanced; you get a hint of galangal, the coconut is not too overpowering, and the lemongrass leaves a refreshing aftertaste on your palate.

The next dish was the Spicy Chicken Basil, or the Grapaau. It is the spicy food lover’s choice. The dish is stir fried minced chicken with various spices and basil. The great thing about this dish is that the spiciness doesn’t mask the rich flavors of the dish, and it is perfect with a side of a bowl of rice. You should definitely opt for this if you like your food spicy.

This place will definitely leave your taste buds tickling. To say the least, Mango Chilli is for you if you are craving some Thai food, or just want to experience a new cuisine.  And it is a must visit if you, like us, are lover of good food.
