Smoothie first, work later. Well, this summer let’s make smoothies at home adding our favourite ingredients and fruits. Alright?

Summer is here. You know what to do now. Keep calm and drink smoothies! If you struggle with eating healthy, you can throw any fruit of your preference into a blender and make the yummiest smoothies. Making healthy food with a little effort? Yes, please! Let’s see some of the smoothie recipes that we can make at home and enjoy.

  1. Choose your favourite liquid base:

What would you choose for a liquid base? Water, coconut water, milk of your choice, juice, whichever you prefer! You need some kind of liquid to mix up and smoothen out all the ingredients. Done with the first step.

  1. Add frozen fruits:

Yes! the frozen one. Why? Just to make it thick and of good consistency. You could also add the normal fruits but then it gets all liquid. It could be frozen bananas, frozen berries, frozen mangoes, frozen acai, or any fruits you want. It works well!

  1. You can add veggies:

You better not be scrunching your nose. And don’t worry you won’t get the strong veggie taste. You can add greens, frozen cauliflower, or even frozen zucchini to the blender.  Adding them into the smoothie is a great way to get your veggies in.

  1. Add healthy fats:

It could be avocados, nut butter, a drizzle of coconut oil, chia seeds, or flax seeds. Healthy fats absorb all the fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients from fruits and vegetables. It also makes the smoothie creamy.

  1. Superfoods and proteins:

This one is optional. You can add a scoop of proteins or superfoods of your choice. The addition makes the smoothie wholesome and packed with carbs, proteins, and fats. However, it is up to you.

How does smoothie benefit you?

  • You don’t like veggies and fruits? Well, Smoothie can be a great way to get them in.
  • The high-fibre foods added to a smoothie help with the digestive system and reduce the chance of heart diseases.
  • If you are on a weight loss journey, all the liquid and nutrient-dense ingredients can be life-changing.
  • Smoothies are packed with anti-oxidants. (Of course, only if you choose the right ingredients) Matcha powder, berries, grapes, spinach, beetroot, radish, etc. are the source of anti-oxidants.
  • Sipping on smoothies helps with replenishing a dehydrated body. Fruits and veggies contain a good amount of water to fuel your body.

Smoothie mistakes:

  • If you are adding many fruits and neglecting other important ingredients, then you are going wrong.
  • Do not skimp on adding protein and fat. A healthy smoothie has to be balanced with carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fat.
  •  People skip smoothies because they couldn’t be bothered to buy fresh fruits and veggies daily. When in fact, frozen fruits and veggies give the best consistency to the smoothie.

You can feel free to play with the ingredients and add whatever you love. Smoothies are a great way to get refreshed and have something delicious. Having this said, one must not forget to consider the portion size and add healthy-balanced ingredients. If you are short on time, rather than grabbing some fast food, you can stock up on smoothies in the fridge and have them.
