Located in between the busy streets of Kumaripati and Lagankhel, this breath-taking bungalow of Mr. Saroj Joshi, of SB Furniture, with its huge outdoor space, resonates of elegance and class inside out. Every corner of the home has different stories to tell. Typically, the spaces there gave away a blend of Rajasthani and Newari vibes by showcasing Rajasthani folk textiles, artifacts etc. while at the same time and incorporating Newari inspired decor. Most of the furniture on the other hand leaned toward Victorian designs.

The designers have the best use of wood in almost all aspects of the décor. The beautiful one of the kind showpieces acted as focal points to add features to the elegance of the designs. The dark wooden floors, false plank ceilings and paneling gave a bold aura to the space. The furniture with vintage designs and heavy carvings complemented the dramatic look as a whole. The shades of beige on the walls is well balanced and provided a soothing vibe. Consoles, fireplace, huge wooden-framed mirrors, classy chandeliers melded perfectly with the dignity of the space.  These classical elements might sound like too much drama but somehow they blended perfectly with one another.

Living Room Space

If one had to give visual definition to luxury, then with its exclusive features, this space would be itClad in an eclectic combination of vintage Victorian era inspired furnituremeaningful wall pieces, folk artifacts, the bold dark wooden panelsplank ceilings and walls and curtains with light shades of beige -- the living room offered a balance of drama with greater sense of extravagance. The huge chesterfield sofas and arm chairs in chestnut brown with quilted details were initially intimidating. The marble top center tables with neoclassical and exaggerated curvy legs and the detailed floral carpets added weightage to the atmosphere. The moldings that surrounded the fireplace have iconic Buddhist knot symbol on each side. The camel and elephant showpieces brought out Rajasthani vibes to the space. Furthermore, the artifacts collected from different countries that were showcased there surprisingly blended well with each otherSounds messy but everything seemed to fit into places.

Kitchen and Dining Area

The kitchen area was warm and welcoming without being cluttered. It was equipped with all modern appliances but its dark wooden theme gave away a heavy traditional look. It was quiet spacious with a kitchen island at the center and breakfast table that served both functional and social purposes.

The dining area on the other side of the space had a unique story to tell. It was more than simply just a space for dining or socializing. Under a beautiful chandelier was an equally beautifully crafted dining table inspired by Newari tiki jhya design which has highly detailed wooden carvings with rusty gold paint, it was the center of attraction. The vibrant carpet underneath this table elevated the space even more.

Another space within the area that played an intriguing role was this wall behind the dining space. An ancient Newari décor inspired tiki-jhya hung as a wall piece there. This space was more like a waiting area or a space for guests. The sofas sheathed with heavily ribbed, printed fabrics and a similar but smaller version of the dining table placed in the center accentuated that space even more. The whole space translated into culture and character.

Family Room

The TV room across the dining area was a cozy space solely devoted to quality family time. There were minimum numbers of accessories, unlike other rooms, but multiple functional appliances like the projector, TVmusic system etc. The sofa set seemed comfortable and cozy with huge cushions.

Bedroom

The wooden stairs with curvy, iron-detailed fencing led to the next floor that housed three bedrooms, the master bedroom, their son’s bedroom and a guest bedroom. The master bedroom was a huge space. It had interesting bedside tables and sophisticated greyish white printed wallpaper behind the bed that was calming and classy at the same time. While the attached bathroom and a walk-in closet served functionality, the cozy set of sofas offered comfort and relaxation.

Attic/Terrace

On the next floor is the attic where a mini gym and a yoga area are located. It was amazing to witness how the small attic space has been used so effectively. The thought of devoting a space for self-care and relaxation and actually understanding their importance in this modern hectic life is truly inspiring.

This home is more than just luxury and class. Not only does this home gleam elegance, but also functionality, comfort and care. The first impression of the décor is intimidating due to its luxurious designs but the effort, time and thought given to bring the décor to life is phenomenal.
