With the busy lifestyle of the people, it is now a burden for people to wash clothes by hand when there are numerous other alternatives available in the market. Perhaps, it would have been less of a burden if maids were as easily available and less expens

Washing clothes by hand takes much of our time and making it difficulty in trying to get other household chores. It is the time for us to get a washing machine to bring down the time you spend doing laundry.

Before you decide to get a washing machine, the first thing you should know is which configuration will best meet your family’s needs (in term of structure): the top loader washing machine, or the front loader washing machine. The top-loader is a traditional one and uses a large agitator that forces clothes back and forth through soapy water, and then again through clean water to rinse out detergents. In these machines, the tub spins vertically.  The front loader washing machine, however, has a tub that spins horizontally. The front loader has no agitator to move the clothes through the water; and the movement of the tub causes clothes to be lifted out of and plunged back in the water again and again. Both of these have its own pros and cons.  The top loader washing machine, can be further be divided into two types: traditional one, and high efficiency one. One of the biggest differences between these two is in using a high efficiency (HE) washer, which needs more care than basic washer. Since the amount of water used is low, some washer might not flush out the soap properly leaving damp accumulations within the washer. Having said this, unlike the traditional washer, high efficiency requires HE detergent as cycle times are much longer due to low use of water. Most HE washers have sensors to adjust water temperature, level and spin to match the load.

The pros and cons of traditional top loader washing machine are:

Pros

  • You don’t have to bend when putting clothes in and taking them out
  • Top loader gives you the freedom to add laundry after the cycle has started
  • It creates minimal vibration
  • You will find its control panel uncomplicated and intuitive to operate

Cons

  • Cleaning performance may not be high when it comes to heavily dirty and stained full clothes
  • Wash cycle can’t be adjusted to fit your specific cleaning needs
  • It’s not stackable
  • It can accommodate less items at a time
  • More water can remain in a wet load after the spin cycle, which can lengthen drying time

A traditional top loader washing machine will suffice you, if your clothes are usually not that dirty, don’t need to change setting every time you wash your clothes, and don’t want to spend lots of money. Usually, this machine is good for grandmothers or grandfathers who have backache and cannot understand the complicated options.

The Pros and Cons of HE washing machine are:

Pros:

·         It can accommodate larger loads and bulkier items as it doesn’t have an agitator.

·         Its cleaning performance is comparable to front-loaders.

·         Uses less water

·         Saves energy in comparison to traditional washer

·         Musty odors are unlikely to be a problem.

Cons:

·         The wash cycles can be just as lengthy as on front-loaders.

·         HE washers aren't stackable.

Price range:

It combines the function of front loader with the styling of traditional loader, so if you have back problem or don’t want to bend much but want the function of front loader, then this HE washer is suitable for you.

The pros and cons of front door washing machine are:

Pros:

·         It provides the best cleaning performance

·         Without compromising on its cleaning performance, its large capacity allows you to wash more items at once.

·         It let you add steam to the wash cycle to improve stain removal.

·         It's the most energy efficient since its wash cycle uses less water.

·         It is less noisy

·         Its high spin speed extracts more moisture from wet loads, which means you can cut down on drying time.

·         It has more options for sensitive clothes

Cons:

·         Front-loader can be very expensive

·         Wash cycle time can be longer by 30 minutes or more than the cycles on other types of washers if you select one of the customized settings.

·         It may vibrate quite a bit on the spin cycle

·         Because of its design, water can get trapped inside, causing musty odors to form in the washtub and the detergent dispenser.

Front loader works for you if your clothes are usually very dirty and you do loads of work as you can ease the cleaning challenge and lighten the number of loads with front loader.

All in all, front door loader comes out to be more appealing as it saves time, effort, space, energy and money. It enhances the clothes verve by softly washing and drying. The initial price of front loading machine is higher but, if you analyze it in the long term perspective, it saves electricity bills, water bills, time and effort.  It also, saves money on buying new expensive clothes time and again as it doesn’t damage clothes unlike traditional top loader machine. So, it’s worth it to spend a little extra on front door loader. However, the fact that no interruption can be made in between washing cycles i.e. the loading door cannot be opened again until it completes its cycle, is still a major drawback of front door loader.
