Experience the Flavors of Persia at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel

At "The Feast of Persia" event at Aloft Kathmandu Thamel, Chef Mona Poordaryaeinezhad shared her love for Persian cuisine and her experience in Nepal. When asked about the one Persian dish everyone should try at least once, she recommended Joojeh Kebab Saffrani, a succulent chicken kebab marinated in Zaffran (saffron) and spices, known for its rich aroma and tender texture. She highlighted how Persian cuisine is deeply connected to Zaffran and rose water which are essential ingredients that add a distinctive fragrance, luxurious color, and a delicate floral essence to many traditional dishes.
As for her go-to comfort food, she mentioned her love for seafood inspired by South Indian flavors and kofta, a hearty and flavorful meatball dish that brings warmth and nostalgia. Beyond Persian flavors, Chef Mona expressed her excitement about exploring Nepali cuisine, sharing how much she enjoyed Momo, the beloved Nepali dumpling, and her eagerness to try more local dishes.
Reflecting on her time in Nepal, Chef Mona described her experience as heartwarming, praising the hospitality and vibrant culinary culture. She found the warmth of the people and the rich blend of traditions to be inspiring, making her visit an unforgettable journey both personally and professionally. Chef Mona’s culinary expertise and diverse palate were reflected throughout the festival, offering guests an authentic taste of Persia with a unique twist.
