We almost always tend to neglect the little smiles, little habits, and little accomplishments that are piling up to make our life wholesome. We conversed with Sadichha Shrestha and Asmi Shrestha, who shared how simple habits have improved their life.

SADICHHA SHRESTHA

  1. Exercise:

I think taking time out for yourself is very important. When you exercise, you are purely dedicating time to nobody but yourself. By exercise I mean any kind of body movement; it can be Gym, home workouts, meditation, or whatever it is, but taking time for myself. When I exercise, I notice my mood gets better, I am happier and more confident. When you feel good, you will look good as well.

  1. Reading books

Let me tell you, reading books is the best habit anyone can have. When we read, we get so much information and it is regretful. Whether it be fiction or non-fiction, we are learning in one way or the other. especially, I prefer self-help books, non-fiction, motivation, and habit formation. I think this is a cheap way of learning new things. so many books are online, you can borrow, lend or collect them yourself. it transforms your life.

Recommendation: Atomic habits, and the secret, the power of now.

  1. Maintain a good relationship with your family:

Talk with your family and strengthen the bond. Maybe you can create a WhatsApp or Viber group where you can constantly update each other. where you say good morning good night, and update. This will improve your personal life. if you are going through rough days or busy days, this is a great way to stay connected, and communicate. Efforts to make good relationships with your family.

  1. Drinking water

Drinking water first thing in the morning. I started doing this, three or four years back. it’s like when you wake up, rather than directly eating something solid or even drinking coffee or tea which is strong for your gut, water flushes out everything. It feels good. Once you start drinking water first thing in the morning, not drinking feels wrong. Skin and gut health has become healthier. I forget to drink water throughout the day, so at least I drink two glasses in the morning, so I am ready for the day.

  1. Decluttering

You know, how during the lockdown, everyone was cleaning their house and understood the importance of decluttering. Whenever I am stressed out or whenever I need to feel good or cleanse especially when I am tired of work or going through something mentally or emotionally. Decluttering has helped in. not only that but just organizing things around me. Before you leave home, you want to make sure that my bed is done, stuff is in place, and clothes are folded inside the wardrobe. The room is clean.

  1. Mindfulness:

I am not someone who meditates. But then, there is something I try to practice, lifelong effort. There is a concept of Mindfulness. Somebody like us who finds it very difficult to meditate. It can be driving to stay mindful. I am not perfect and never will be. But then I continuously try to practice mindfulness. A book, “mindfulness on a go” explains the very concept and I highly recommend for everyone go through it.

Whether you are eating, cooking, driving, talking, or anything for that matter, being mindful is so much essential to keep your sanity.
