How and when did you start working out and being conscious about fitness?
I started exercising during my high school days but never was too consistent about it. From what I remember, I have always had bad experiences with food especially because I had gained a lot of weight and was chubby ever since. I struggled with loving myself because of that, affecting both my physical and mental health even more. One day, I decided to take better care of myself and be health-conscious. Now, I have been constantly working out for more than one year and it has completely changed my health and habits.
Was there any incident or person who motivated you to do so?
For me, my motivating factor was myself. It was a realization of self-worth. I have always been there for people and have been searching for happiness in someone else’s pocket. But soon enough I realized I lost my true self, compromising the love for myself, and, with time, it hit me hard. It motivated me to work harder for myself and prove my self-worth. Working to be the best version of myself paid off and the love for myself grew and grew.
What differences has exercising brought in your lifestyle?
Exercising has brought a huge difference in my lifestyle as well as my life in general. I could go on and on about this but the one thing that has stuck with me and built me up is how it made me confident. I believe I can achieve any goal I set my mind to at the present day. I can wake up every day with this new energy and keep myself worked up to take on the day. Exercising has made me healthier than ever and has made my skin so much clearer. My body is in good shape and my mind is in a good state all thanks to my working out routine. It helps me concentrate and be more focused on my aim.
How has your experience with food changed with your journey with fitness?
My food diet experiences a few years back were the worst. I skipped meals and my body was very weak. But researching about food and its effects on the body, I understand how a little amount of any food isn’t unhealthy, however maintaining calories and exercising accordingly should be strictly implemented. I don’t believe any kind of food restriction can make us fit rather our body needs every food in some amount. Permanent and long-lasting workout routines are much better than temporary diet plans. I mostly avoid cold drinks but I don’t always avoid junk foods. Eating them mindfully and keeping track of the amount they are eaten is a must. Maintain healthy relationships with food instead of avoiding them.
Have you ever thought of giving up during this time? What gave you the strength to get back at it?
Yes, at times when my body is tired, I feel exhausted with everything and feel pressured. I feel like giving up but every time I felt so I gave my body a little more rest and a lot more care. I myself strengthened myself to get up and not quit. My journey to date has not been easy and I won’t let a little weariness make me quit on everything. I am the one who has seen myself in the worst and I won’t let myself fall back to that place again.
What do you suggest the beginners trying to start exercising?
Love themselves enough, more than enough actually. Don’t change yourself for anyone but yourself. Starting something that you have always wanted, an activity, a work our routine, just anything. Remaining consistent with it is never easy, but it’s never impossible either. Motivate yourself and keep going because the result may not be visible soon but it will be worth the pain. So, believe in yourself.
