Udaipur beholds regal wedding
The wedding took place in Udaipur, a historic city of heritage forts and palace in India. A beautiful breeze on Lake Pichola sent greetings, and welcomed guests to a stunning event which showcased the finest traditions of a Marwari wedding with its innumerable ceremonies.
Six venues
Their wedding was a series of majestic, unforgettable celebrations. Rajasthan with its rich history and Udaipur with its beautiful traditions and architecture proved to be the most amazing settings for it. With six venues, the wedding was not just one event but a myriad of events unfolding like a lotus at different places.
Welcoming the guests
A welcome lunch brought guests into the Lake Palace hotel in Lake Pichola. Guests came in boats, and were welcomed with music and performances by traditional Rajasthani dancers, sprinkled with rose petals, and offered long cool drinks. It was a quite a relaxing moment for guests after their respective journey, and providing them an opportunity to meet their old friends and family.
Mehendi, Sangeet, Mudda and Tika
They had a traditional ceremony of mehendi and sangeet surrounded by family and friends, who wallowed in activities such as tarot reading or having henna applied on them (for female guests), while drinking pink champagne. Under such fun and lively setting, the couple took the center stage of the celebrations and danced with some impressive moves. After that, Varun and Anushree partook in the mudda and tika ceremonies, which were held at the City Palace, in Udaipur. These were followed by theatrical entertainment gala, and a performance choreographed by Shiamak Davar. Famous singers such as Mika Singh and Kanika Kapoor showcased an exciting performance. Be it mudda, tikka, mehendi, sangeet or the wedding, the ceremonies were grand in every way.

Decorations and mouthwatering food
The guests were ferried in boats designed like the Kashmiri shikaaras to the wedding venue, which was decked up with the most beautiful flowers. The food was prepared by celebrity chef Marut Sikla herself. The food offered here had something for everyone, including a nice vegetarian selection and a beautifully arranged fruit station.
Wedding attire
Apart from awe–inspiring wedding decorations, it was Varun’s and Anushree’s wedding attire that raised a lot of eyebrows. Dressed in traditional Indian attires, Varun and Anushree looked absolutely stunning. Anushree was dressed in a traditional red lehenga with mind-blowing pieces of jewellery, and Varun looked handsome and stylish in his groom’s attire. Overall, the couple looked picture-perfect.
Arrival of the big day
And finally the big day arrived. The grounds of Jag Mandir were lit up in red, green and vermillion colors. The groom’s procession arrived with a royal grace, and each guest was welcomed with a garland of pearls, denoting the union of two families. The bride was eagerly waiting in the calm waters of the lake on a boat. The boat, decorated with twirls of fragrant flowers, slowly came into view. In it sat the beautiful bride. A thousand lamps were swung over the water as priests chanted Hindu mantras as blessings. The bride was escorted by her close family for the ceremonies beginning with the exchange of garlands between the bride and the groom. The marriage puja conducted in a silver mandap, crafted like a dome of a palace itself. The wedding brought together the best of the old and the new in a seamless way.
