Exquisite Thai Menu

With the grand opening of the Dusit Princess in Kathmandu, the global chain franchise brings a truly Thai experience for individuals to relive in Kathmandu with the top of the line services. The Dusit Princess is located near Lazimpat, with the building unmistakably recognized even from a distance. In this article, we explore the Soi restaurant, which is on the ground floor of the hotel. We talk about the ambience, the food, and a small interview with the master chef of the kitchen.

The Dusit princess in a world of her own cannot be easily described with words but by experiencing the magnificent decoration by visiting the grand establishment.

This review is for the multi-cuisine restaurant Soi, whose ambience is a masterwork in blending multiple modern and traditional elements into one that is marvelous to sit at. The hall of the restaurant was huge while also consisting of an outdoor section for people who prefer a fresh breath of air while enjoying their meal. The people in the kitchen were always attentive and ready to listen to the customers with a really warm approach. Overall, the ambience and the service of the restaurant were really fantastic.

About the Thai master chef of the Dusit Princess

Chef Bangkot Sabpong of Thailand is an expert in the field of culinary arts, with 22 years of experience in this field. Joining the Dusit chain 20 years ago. With her first time in Kathmandu, she is still on the journey of culinary arts, exploring different cuisines to satisfy the customers with an exceptional eye for Nepali cuisine, namely the Thakali dish. Her cooking style depends on the customer's feedback, the ingredients, and the amount of spicyness a dish must include.

Talking about the food, we were presented with a plethora of dishes that were rich in flavors and mouth pleasing in texture. The ingredients were planted by themselves in Dhulikel, and the quota of the hotel was to go green with no carbon emissions to help with the ongoing issue of global warming.

Satay Gai

The grilled marinated chicken satay, served with peanut sauce and vegetable pickles, made for a fantastic beginning to the meal. The chicken on a stick had a well-balanced sweet and spicy flavor. However, without the accompanying peanut dipping sauce, the chicken had a slightly spicier taste. But once the sauce was added, it transformed into a magnificent dish.

Som Tam

The dish, served with a papaya salad with long beans, tomatoes, and peanuts, was perfect in every way, from the juiciest ingredient to the way in which it was presented before the eyes. The dish was also slightly spicy for my taste, but a quick meal comes with two option vegetables and prawns.

Tom Yum Soup

This was the star of this review. Served with a spicy broth, chili paste, lemon grass, tomatoes, and Thai herbs, this dish was mouthwatering till the last spoon. For this dish, people can choose between Chicken or prawn. Going with the prawn variation is a treat and my personal recommendation, as it's an experience to be remembered.

Pad Thai

Pad Thai is an absolute delight! This classic Thai dish never fails to impress with its perfect balance of flavors and textures. The stir-fried rice noodles are tossed with tender pieces of protein, crunchy bean sprouts, and chopped peanuts for a lovely contrast. What truly makes Pad Thai stand out is its sweet and tangy sauce, which infuses every bite with a burst of flavor.
