Purrfection at its finest: Nepal's Charming Cat Cafe!

Located in one of the busiest locations in Kathmandu, Jhamsikel, The cat cafe that recently opened was one of the most anticipated, with a huge amount of people in Kathmandu. The cafe is located in Jhamsikhel. The cafe can be hard to find at first, but once you find it, it becomes a haven for cat lovers and people looking to find a place to relax.

Akriti Shreshta and Rohan Pandey, a couple who share a deep love for cats, opened a unique and one-of-a-kind cafe in Nepal. The idea struck them when they visited a cafe in Malaysia and realized they wanted to create a similar experience back home. They had a special reason for opening the cafe - whenever they traveled outside Nepal, they always missed their beloved pets dearly. This longing led them to the concept of a cafe combined with a studio, where cats would be an integral part of the environment.

What started as a simple idea quickly evolved into a refuge and haven for people to come and enjoy. The couple decided to decorate the cafe in a way that would appeal to both cats and customers alike. They filled the cafe with Persian cats, which happen to be their personal favorites and are loved by many others. The greeting one receives upon entering the cafe is truly magical. The cats come in various colors, and there is even a friendly pomeranian named Pom Pom, affectionately known as the doorbell, who alerts the staff when new customers arrive.

The interior of the cafe is thoughtfully designed to cater to the cats' enjoyment while also providing a soothing and comfortable environment for customers. Every corner of the cafe is carefully crafted to allow the cats to play and rest at their leisure while ensuring that customers feel at ease during their visit. However, it's important to be cautious as you walk around. Since the cafe is filled with cats, there's a possibility of accidentally stepping on them as they relax. So always remember to watch your step and be mindful of their presence.

Now to the second star of the review- the food. My first thought when I walked into the cafe was that “nothing beats the cats in the cafe" and “the main attraction of the cafe was the cats.” I was wrong in many ways. The food the restaurant offered was delicious, from the first dish to the last. It was a review that had a huge impact, and while the five dishes were all great, I'll start with the one that stood out to me the most.

Sesame Chicken

Out of the five dishes, this was my personal favorite. Each bite of the dish revealed a perfect balance of flavors. The sweet and tangy notes of the sauce harmonized perfectly with the subtle nuttiness of the sesame seeds. Each bite offered a delightful contrast between the crispy exterior and the juicy, moist chicken inside. What impressed me most about this sesame chicken was the impeccable texture. The chicken pieces were cooked to perfection, remaining tender and juicy. The coating had a satisfying crunch that added a wonderful textural element to each mouthful. The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying meal. The sesame chicken was both visually appealing and undeniably appetizing. The flavors were well-balanced, allowing each ingredient to shine through without overpowering one another.

Mountain Style Potato

This dish was spectacular in many ways, from the texture to the taste. The slightly spicy taste of the potatoes was appealing to the mouth and was the perfect snack to end the day with a group of friends. For those who are more versed in the Nepali version, it's more commonly known as the Mustang Aloo.

Chicken Pita Sandwich

The chicken pita sandwich was also mouthwatering. Packed with juicy grilled chicken, fresh veggies, and a medley of tantalizing flavors, it was a true delight for my taste buds. The tender chicken was perfectly seasoned, providing a savory and juicy bite with every mouthful. The crisp vegetables, including lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, added a refreshing crunch. The pita bread was soft and lightly toasted, making it an ideal vessel to hold the flavorful ingredients together. This sandwich was a satisfying and well-balanced meal, leaving me yearning for more. Highly recommended for a quick, delicious lunch option. A personal recommendation for all the dishes is to not add too much sauce; it can ruin the original taste of the dish.

Chef's Special Chicken Burger

As the name suggests, the burger is a specialty. The chef’s special burger comes in two varieties: chicken and buff. For the review, I had the chef's special chicken burger. The burger, with the addition of fries and onion rings, is a perfect lunch option for people to fill their stomachs while being cost-effective at the same time. The taste was also something that I didn't expect from the cafe; the texture was crispy while the vegetables and chicken were crispy, each bite stimulating the taste buds. If you are in the area looking for a burger, look no further than the chef's special burger the cafe offers.

Saving the best for last always has its merits. Introducing the pork chop-chop, a remarkable dish that effortlessly blends simplicity and sophistication, This culinary masterpiece reveals a tantalizing explosion of flavors. Its perfectly seared exterior adds a delightful caramelized crust, enhancing the succulence within. Accompanying the pork chop is a medley of vibrant vegetables and mashed potatoes, offering a refreshing and crunchy contrast. What sets this dish apart is the luscious sauce that blankets the pork chop. Rich, savory, and boasting a subtle tang, it elevates the overall flavor profile. The sauce intertwines flawlessly with each ingredient, bringing together a symphony of tastes that dance on your palate. The Pork chop becomes more than a meal; it becomes a delightful journey for the taste buds.

As I end the review, there are not many words that can describe the ambiance and the taste of the food; it's something that everyone should experience in person. Some points to note before going to the cafe are that it's crowded most days, feeding the cats and carrying them is not allowed, and hygiene is highly maintained in the cafe. While going to places, respecting others' rules is strictly to be followed.
