Murgha Tikka "Mirza Hasnu": Royalty on a Plate

The Murgha Tikka "Mirza Hasnu'' was the next dish to grace my table, and it was nothing short of regal. Named after a royal courtier, this dish features tender pieces of chicken marinated in a rich blend of spices and yogurt, then grilled to perfection. The chicken was served with a side of mint chutney and a garnish of fresh coriander.

The presentation was elegant, with the golden-brown chicken pieces exuding an irresistible aroma. The first bite was a revelation, the chicken incredibly tender and infused with the complex flavors of the marinade. The spices were perfectly balanced, with no single flavor overpowering the others. The mint chutney added a refreshing contrast, its coolness balancing the warmth of the spices. The Murgha Tikka "Mirza Hasnu '' was a testament to the skill of the chefs at Spice, who had managed to create a dish that was both rich and nuanced, worthy of its royal namesake.

Rogan Josh: A Kashmiri Classic

No exploration of Indian cuisine would be complete without sampling a classic Rogan Josh, and the rendition at Spice Room did not disappoint. This traditional Kashmiri dish features tender pieces of lamb cooked in a rich, aromatic gravy made with yogurt, garlic, and a blend of spices including cardamom, cloves, and cinnamon. The Rogan Josh was served with a side of basmati rice and naan bread, perfect for soaking up the flavorful sauce.

The dish arrived in a beautiful ceramic bowl, the deep red gravy hinting at the depth of flavor within. The lamb was incredibly tender, falling apart at the touch of a fork. The gravy was a masterpiece, rich and aromatic, with the spices blending together seamlessly to create a complex, layered flavor profile. The basmati rice was perfectly cooked, its delicate grains providing a wonderful contrast to the hearty lamb. The naan bread was soft and warm, ideal for sopping up the last of the delicious gravy. The Rogan Josh was a comforting, satisfying dish that showcased the best of Kashmiri cuisine.

Pardanashi Murgh Biryani: The Grand Finale
The next dish of my culinary journey was the Pardanashi Murgh Biryani, a dish that epitomizes the grandeur and complexity of Indian cuisine. The biryani was presented in a sealed pot, the pastry crust keeping the aromatic steam trapped within. As the server broke the crust, a cloud of fragrant steam escaped, revealing the beautifully layered biryani within.

The Pardanashi Murgh Biryani was a visual and olfactory delight, the colorful layers of saffron-infused rice, tender chicken, and caramelized onions creating a feast for the eyes and nose. Each spoonful was a symphony of flavors and textures, the fragrant rice perfectly complementing the succulent chicken and sweet onions. The spices were expertly balanced, creating a dish that was both rich and nuanced. The biryani was served with a side of cooling raita, the creamy yogurt providing a refreshing contrast to the spiced rice. Each bite was a celebration of flavor, a fitting end to an extraordinary culinary journey.

Karavali Shrimp: A Coastal Delight

Next on my culinary journey was the Karavali Shrimp, a dish inspired by the coastal flavors of the Karavali region in southern India. The shrimp, marinated in a blend of spices and coconut, were cooked to perfection, their succulent texture a testament to the chef's expertise. They were served with a side of fragrant coconut rice and a tangy tomato chutney.

The aroma of the dish was intoxicating, with the scent of coconut and spices wafting through the air. The first bite of the shrimp was a burst of flavor, the sweetness of the coconut complementing the spice blend perfectly. The coconut rice, with its subtle flavor and fluffy texture, was the ideal accompaniment, while the tomato chutney added a zesty kick that elevated the dish to new heights. The Karavali Shrimp was a celebration of coastal Indian cuisine, transporting me to the sun-kissed shores of the Arabian Sea with each bite.

Palak Patta Chaat: A Symphony of Crunch and Spice

My culinary adventure began with the Palak Patta Chaat, a dish that exemplifies the art of combining contrasting textures and flavors. The dish arrived as a vibrant mosaic of colors, with deep-fried spinach leaves forming the base. These crisp, golden leaves were delicately smothered in an array of toppings: tangy tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney, cool yogurt, and a sprinkling of sev (crispy gram flour noodles).

The first bite was a revelation. The crunch of the spinach leaves provided a delightful counterpoint to the creamy yogurt and the sweet and sour tamarind chutney. The green chutney added a refreshing zing, while the sev contributed an additional layer of texture. Each mouthful was a harmonious blend of spicy, sweet, and tangy flavors that danced on the palate. The Palak Patta Chaat set the tone for the rest of the meal, promising an experience that would be as exhilarating as it was delicious.
