Unveiling Culinary Brilliance at Chimney Restaurant

Inside the Chimney room

As we first approached the Chimney restaurant, our enchanting journey began with a warm welcome from the fabulous Yak and Yeti Hotel. The walls and decorations of the restaurant were made to resemble typical Nepali cuisine, with a few modern aspects that blended perfectly with the restaurant. While the restaurant's decoration was something many people dreamed about, the environment that the restaurant provided with the hotel was not something many others could replicate. Speaking of the staff, their professionalism and genuine passion for hospitality were remarkable. The waitstaff was well-versed in the menu, providing insightful recommendations and answering any questions I had. Throughout the evening, their attentiveness and efficiency ensured that my dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.

Let's talk about the star of the article—the food. The menu at the Chimney showcases a harmonious fusion of flavors, highlighting both Asian and Western delicacies. Each dish was a work of art, masterfully crafted to excite the senses of anyone who enter the restaurant.

For starters, the Chimney restaurant offered the famous Chicken Ala Kiev. A dish that is very popular in Eastern Europe and the United States. The pear-like appearance was undeniably the most attractive aspect of the dish. The chicken is juicy and soft, cooked to perfection, and covered in a delicious sauce that strikes a delicate balance between savory and acidic flavors. Aromatic herbs and spices are added to the dish to further enhance the flavors, giving each bite mouth-watering depth. A great comfort food, chicken ala kiev brings warmth and contentment with every bite. This dish is a go-to option for people looking for a hearty and flavorful meal, whether it is served with a side of fluffy rice or with roasted veggies.

Moving on to the next dish, the Asian Tomato Salad, made from bean sprouts and fresh tomatoes that are all freshly peeled and then tossed in sesame, tamarind, and jaggery dressing, the dish was in a world of its own, with every bite dripping with a sauce that was perfect in every way. The salad was recommended as one of the best salads in terms of health. The salad started with ripe and juicy tomatoes, sliced into small pieces, which served as the foundation of the dish. The tomatoes are bursting with natural sweetness and acidity, offering a refreshing and tangy base. Combined with the crispness of fresh cucumber and the subtle heat of thinly sliced chili peppers, each bite is an explosion of textures and flavors. What sets the Asian Tomato Salad apart is the dressing. It's a symphony of Asian-inspired ingredients that elevates the salad to new heights. This blend of flavors complements the tomatoes perfectly, bringing a delicate balance to the overall taste.

Prawn tempura, a classic Japanese delicacy, never fails to leave a lasting impression with its enticing flavors and delightful texture. The prawn tempura I recently had the delight of tasting was a culinary masterpiece that elevated my taste buds to new heights of satisfaction. From the very first bite, it provided a satisfying crunch that gave way to one of the juiciest prawn meat that I have ever tasted. The batter, perfectly balanced in its crispiness, enveloped the prawns like a delicate embrace, ensuring each morsel was coated evenly. The prawns themselves were impeccably fresh and tender, showcasing their natural sweetness and complementing the batter's delicate flavors. The dish was beautifully presented, with the tempura placed elegantly atop a bed of finely shredded cabbage, accompanied by a tangy dipping sauce and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

To end the review on a sweet note, I indulged in the chef's signature dessert, the Baked Alaska Sagarmatha, which even made my eyes water with the presentation of the dish. In simple terms, the dish was a culinary masterpiece that combines the beauty of presentation with an explosion of flavors. A dome of perfectly torched meringue surrounded a core of luscious ice cream, and a layer of moist cake was nothing short of perfection. The richness of the ice cream and cake was perfectly offset by the sweetness of the meringue, which had a delicate and light structure. The way of presenting the baked Alaska was also something to behold; the fiery essence from the alcohol as it was poured was mesmerizing and a treat to the eyes as well.
