A conference was held to share positivity towards children and understand how parenting can shape a child's future. This article focuses on the event “Empowering children through Positivity” and what a parent can learn while raising their children.

Empowering children through Positivity

The main highlight speaker at the event was Mr. Pritam Paudel, a counselor, life coach, and education speaker with ten years of experience. He is known for promoting positivity and knowledge through frequent appearances on TV talk shows and news channels. Mr. Paudel is also the host of the TV show "Positive Vibration" and has authored a book called "The Art of Memory."

The event aimed to guide parents on how to encourage their children to generate innovative ideas as we enter the digital age, where tasks can be accomplished in an instant. Various guest speakers from different parts of Nepal, with extensive experience in working with growing children, were invited to share their insights. The event took place at the Rastriya Nachghar in Jamal, attracting parents from all over Kathmandu who were eager to learn new approaches to parenting. The conference provided an interactive platform for the audience, featuring question and answer sessions where attendees actively voiced their concerns and challenges.

The keynote speaker emphasized the fundamental role of parents in striving for their children's development. Pritam sir highlighted a significant hurdle in raising children today, which is the overwhelming influence of technology that hampers their thinking process. He acknowledged that this was not entirely the children's fault since they lack the understanding of what is right and wrong at their young age. The speaker emphasized that humans have developed a preference for listening over reading and writing. When asked to read an article, our attention span tends to diminish, whereas we exhibit enhanced concentration when listening to a lecture or someone speaking. Thus leading to teaching through actions and lectures having more effect on people. Society or parents these days often expect their children to remain stationary and obediently absorb everything their elders say, the most prominent solution being- give them a phone so that the children are well behaved and not causing any trouble. These actions carry huge consequences for the future but such behaviour is perceived as a sign of a well-disciplined child. However, the speaker argued that children learn from their mistakes and grow through failures, not by remaining in one place and unquestioningly following instructions. Children are often coerced into doing things they dislike, leaving little room for personal growth.

“Let them make their own identity”

Furthermore, children today face the burden of being labelled with various negative traits such as laziness, quietness, or hyperactivity. These labels should not be taken lightly, as they can shape how children perceive themselves in the future. Showing that a parent's auctions can have a major influence in the maturing of a child. A child can be affected by the smallest decisions their parents make, the speaker provides a useful information to the teachers, while also providing a report for the parents by what they have contributed for the child in that particular year ie: the amount of times that have come for meetings or gatherings in the school, that would boost the child’s thinking or positivity. The more positivity you show to your child the more benefits you carry as they get older, as much as possible spend time with them rather than the digital screens taking their time, don't complain in front of your child it makes them demoralized in many ways.

The keynote speaker, drawing from his experience in counselling young children in schools, shared valuable anecdotes and strategies for effectively engaging with children. In a world where imagination has no limits, the conference served as a powerful reminder that creativity is the key to unlocking our children's full potential, equipping them with the necessary tools to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. While the use of technology is often looked down upon as children grow, the benefits should also be kept in mind as children are having more of an exponential growth and less linear growth.

As the conference came to a close, the people who were present left inspired with encouraging words, showing renewed commitment to unlocking the creative potential of their  children. The passionate discussions and shared vision for a brighter future resonated long after the event, fostering a collective determination to empower children through positivity.
