Exam Season
Have you ever pulled an all-nighter to cram for an exam? Have you missed out on fun experiences in order to prepare for an upcoming test? Well, this is the case for many during the exam seasons.
Exams can cause stress, pressure, and even fear. Although dreaded by most students, it is an essential measure of capabilities and level of understanding. The scores from an exam are often used to determine the level of a student and their qualities. One exam can decipher a student’s future opportunities, which is why it is deemed so necessary. Everyone desires to ace an exam, but it requires determination, focus, and effort.
I think self-study is the most essential component in acing an exam. It helps to discover the points of weaknesses which can make the revision process much more effective. I always attempt to take practice tests and review all my material in advance. However, it doesn’t always work out how I want it to. As the days of the exam approach quicker, the panic sets in. More frequently than not, I start to cram; I study late at night and early in the mornings. The stress of the exam season messes with my schedule with the sole focus of preparing for my exams. I think I can resonate with many students when saying that the morning of the exam is nerve-racking. I can feel the nervousness in my stomach, with my brain constantly worrying about failure. Although, I know deep down that it will be fine once I start writing the exam.
Once in the hall, you utilize all the knowledge that has been gathered, revised, and studied. The exam is nothing but a reflection of all that has been learned. However, it will pave the pathway to your future.
All the studying, stressing, and cramming goes into one exam. When I walk out of the exam hall, I feel a sense of relief. All the stress is gone until I realize that I have to worry about the results and hope for a good grade. It feels like a never-ending cycle. Something I find important is being in the moment. Yes, the exam results are important but it shouldn’t stand in the way of other opportunities that life presents. Exam season is stressful and crucial but it's a part of school. I like to remember to always do my best and accept whatever outcome I receive.
Now that this exam season is over, how are you feeling? What are your future plans?
