Panoramic windows in view of the mountains, cascading green hills, and breathtaking sunrises bathed in a magical yellow light amidst an unforgettably relaxing experience. These and more are what Hotel Mystic Mountain in Nagarkot offers its visitors.

A Respite into the Hills

The noises, heat and vices of Kathmandu do not echo here. The only thing that does is the sharp crunch of dried green leaves under my feet, the chirping of a bird somewhere in the distance as a calm breeze gently ruffles my cloth. A short walk from the main crossroad of Nagarkot leads to Hotel Mystic Mountain, which is hidden in an enclave of sparse forest ‑‑- necessarily secluded from the unnecessary hustle, yet conveniently close.

In spite of being only an infant in the hotel market in Nagarkot, Mystic Mountain has already gained massive popularity. Whether it is the Instagram perfect pictures in front of the infinity pool (which is a major point of the hotel) or its complex stunning architecture – these have all contributed to its fame. But like every new place that is in an avid traveller’s dream list, Mystic Mountain stood like a new world to me ‑‑- waiting to be found and full of promises. I wanted to believe that there was more to this than the overrated pool or the architecture. I am glad that I found everything that I was looking for and happily more.

The first thing that will intrigue visitors here is the eye-catching, attention seeking stunning architecture elaborately exhibited in every ceiling, corridor and hallway. The lobby is the first place that will greet you with its aesthetics along with some courteous people welcoming you with a warm professional smile and a cool glass of watermelon juice.

Being a detail oriented person with a keen eye for sensory descriptions, I was glad that I was able to absorb many intriguing details about the place. A long bridge like passageway led to my room, which strongly resembled a Japanese pathway that I had often seen in antique Japanese movies. But what really took my breath away is the gorgeous view from the hotel, as it is perched on a hill facing the direction of sunrise, which provides a great vantage point for any keen nature lover to witness the glorious sunrise. The way all the rooms in the hotel are built really adds to the charm. In fact every individual room in the hotel has a private balcony, to witness the beauty of nature in silence with a loved one.

As the Super Deluxe Room which I was graciously given had a wide and spacious balcony with a private garden and a tiny lounge space, the nature lover in me was gleeful with excitement. The inside of the room was anything but basic yet luxurious. Decorated in an earthy tone with white washed walls, the room was cozy and inviting. Bold patterns don’t scream at you for attention and like everything else in this serene place, the rooms really put you at ease. Equipped with all modern amenities like a private Wi-Fi connection, LED TV a private working space and chic bathroom, what more can one possibly ask or to have a comfortable stay?

For families looking for a quiet retreat in this hill, this hotel is perfect with an array of facilities crafted for families. Accommodation in a Junior Suite, which has an adjoining twin bed along with a double bed, playing area for children, a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the lush green hills and an adequately equipped gym ‑‑- everything has been thought about to ensure that a family looking for a peaceful bonding time has everything they could possibly need.

With as many as 71 rooms of various categories to choose from ‑‑- the luxurious Executive suite at the topmost floor from where you can have a gorgeous view through a huge glass window while having private Jacuzzi and living area to the slightly meagre Super Deluxe rooms that has a private balcony ‑‑- visitors can choose the type of room they want depending on their budget without compromising a truly satisfying stay. Gorging in some delightful food after a long walk through the hotel, I have nothing to complain. The fine dining restaurant Odyssey serves delightful meals to keep your hunger pangs happy, while letting a spiritual sensation permeate you as you look down from the glass windows.

If I have to be mercilessly picky, I’d say the best thing about staying in Nagarkot is waking up to the dreamy sunrise while sipping a warm cup of coffee and reveling in the surrealism of nature. But you can do that only at Mystic Mountain with so much comfort, privacy and luxury. This truly creates an unforgettable experience so much as that you want to keep coming back. After spending a day there, I had a tough time returning back to reality. Time stood still there while a low hum of serenity and comfort kept whispering in my ear all the wonderful things in life.
