To Dubai The Land Of Dreams & Possibilities
“Seeing His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai driving his car will be one of the most unforgettable moment of the trip.”
Once you land in another country, you become an observer. Experience, discovery and appreciation is what makes a travel remarkable. With that being said, here’s a small travelogue of Ranjan Khadka, the Chief Marketing Officer of Century Commercial Bank, journey to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after 16 years.
When we travel, we travel with an objective.
Ranjan Khadka chose the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as his vacation destination with the intention of experiencing the modern day ultratourism. Evidently, the UAE is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. However, the UAE was just in its emerging state when Mr. Khadka last visited it. “I was mesmerized by the infrastructural development going on in those regions,” he said. “During the visit I used to wonder how the cities of the Middle East would look after a decade.” Ultimately, this was what made him want to revisit it.
The trip was a break for Mr.Khadka from his hectic schedule in the city. On how he managed to do so, he responded, “Most of the organizations in Nepal have been practicing annual leaves so that the work-life of the employees can be balanced.” Thus, taking his own annual leave, he, along with his wife, left for an extraordinary voyage to the tourism hub of the Middle East.
Even though it was only a six-day long trip, from December 1-6, he confesses that it was one of his best travel experiences. “Creatively built skyscrapers, stunning food and warm culture have made this trip really unforgettable,” he told. Mr. Khadka also took part in Dhow Cruise and Desert Safari, the latter being his first time experience.
While he primarily went to the UAE to fulfill one of the wishes in his bucket list, he aslo wanted to witness the tourism boom in the region. “Before travelling to any foreign country, I am always excited to experience the unique culture and tradition of that place,” Mr.Khadka said. He added, “Although Emirati culture was not a first time experience, I was also excited to taste various Arabic cuisines.”
“Before I chose to travel,” he continued, “I had only thought about the modern city and infrastructural development.” The main places that he wanted to visit were Dubai City, Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Beach and Dubai Miracle Garden.
However, what surprised him was something completely different. “But even in such a globalized economy, I saw the Emirati people preserving their culture and tradition— something I had not expected to experience before travelling,” Mr. Khadka told us fondly.
From his travels to the United Arab Emirates, some of his favorite places and landmarks included the mesmerizing Dubai Fountains, the spectacular Burj Khalifa, the cultural epitome of the nation Jumeriah Mosque, and the famous Dubai Mall.
When asked how high he would rank this trip among all of his collection of travelogues, Mr. Khadka answered, “I believe every country has its own beauty and every country gives us an experience of unique culture.” He continued, “But comparing my past travel experience to USA and UK, I found the architectural design of the Dubai city to be amazing.”
And we concur.
Considering that the UAE is also known as‘Symphony of Skyscrapers,’ after ranking sixth among the highest skylines in the world, the endless tall buildings are now seen as a symbol of the United Arab Emirates. It took ages to build the nation and bring it to this unrivaled level, a level that emphasizes the country’s exclusivity, one that leaves us in a thunderstruck breathlessness.
Mr. Khadka recalled his favorite moment from his trip. “Seeing His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, driving his car will be one of the most unforgettable moments of the trip,” he said. He continued, “We were able to identify him as he was driving his Mercedes Benz numbered ‘1’ next to our vehicle. Seeing the leader of such a nation drive around in the city without armed bodyguards really amazed me.”
Rajan Khadka admitted that he would love to visit the UAE again, but next time, he would like to take his mother along with him.
